Honoring Barbara Gold and her enduring impact on our community

Aspen Community Foundation is deeply saddened by the passing of Barbara Gold, a beloved former board member and board chair whose generosity, wisdom, and kindness touched so many across our region.

Barbara gave so much of herself to this community. Through her years of service, she offered steady leadership, thoughtful guidance, and genuine care for others. Her belief in the power of philanthropy and community connection continues to inspire our work today.

Her commitment to youth and education shone brightly through her support of the John Gold Scholarship Fund, established in 2006 with her husband, John. Through this scholarship, she helped open doors for students with limited financial means, ensuring they had the opportunity to pursue their college dreams and build meaningful futures.

She also gave generously of her time and heart to the Roaring Fork PreCollegiate program, where she served as an advocate for first-generation college-bound students. Barbara saw potential in every young person she met, and she made it her mission to help them see it in themselves.

Barbara’s impact on our Foundation, and on the wider community, cannot be overstated. She brought people together, fostered collaboration, and inspired those around her to give more generously, think more broadly, and care more deeply. Whether championing the arts, improving healthcare access, or advancing educational equity, Barbara’s legacy is one of compassion in action.

We are forever grateful for her leadership, friendship, and unwavering belief in community. She will be missed dearly, and remembered always.

Our thoughts are with her family and all who loved her.
