Last summer, an event called the Community Pedaleando came to life: it is a celebration of summer and cycling for all ages. Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club (AVSC) offered these free learn-to-ride mountain bike clinics to promote their programs and to encourage riders from all over the Roaring Fork Valley to get outside and have fun.
Now in its second year, Pedaleando is expanding. This year’s event is hosted by AVSC, along with Aspen Community Foundation (ACF), Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES), and Valley Settlement. While this group of non-profits have varying missions, they share a vision for a healthy, unified Roaring Fork Valley community where children are given ample opportunities to explore and learn from the unique environment that they call home. To help reach out to diverse communities, we enlisted the help of Samuel Bernal and Radio Tri-Color to get the word out and to emphasize the inclusive nature of the event.
Community Pedaleando is on Sunday, June 10th from 10:30am – 2pm in North Face Park in Carbondale. The celebration of cycling, health, and sustainability will feature games, a family-friendly bike ride, music from DJ Scratch, fun activities that earn participants a free lunch. Bikes will be available at North Face Park for children and adults to borrow for the group ride. See you on Sunday, June 10.
